The $452 million DOE funding will support the engineering, design certification and licensing for up to two prototype SMR designs. Holtec has a 160 MW pressurized water reactor called the SMR-160 at the Savannah River Site (SRS). NuHub earlier announced a similar agreement with NuScale Power LLC, and will support applications from both Holtec and NuScale for the DOE’s SMR program.
