Clarion Energy Content Directors 6.14.2018 Share By Editors of Power Engineering EDF Renewables and Alliant Energy have reached an agreement to have EDF develop and construct the 200 MW Golden Plains Wind Project in Winnebago and Kossuth counties in Iowa. “We are pleased to partner with Alliant Energy to deliver competitively-priced, clean energy to its customers through the Golden Plains Wind Project,” said Kate O’Hair, vice president development, North Region at EDF Renewables. “The Project will also provide an economic boost to the Iowa economy, through new construction and operations jobs, expanded tax base, and recurring, long-term income for participating landowners.” The project, expected to be finished in early 2020, is part of Alliant Energy’s plan to add 1,000 MW of new wind generation in Iowa by the end of 2020. “Wind energy is a win for Iowans,” said Doug Kopp, president of Alliant Energy’s Iowa energy company. “The benefits of this project help customers through reductions in emissions and fuel cost. It gives landowners lease payments to help on the farm and it helps communities through increased local tax revenue for schools and community services.” Related Articles 1+ GW renewable development portfolio to change hands Dominion proposes 800 MW of new solar in Virginia Mitsubishi Power wins order for 1,950 MW of gas-fired power plants in Japan Babcock & Wilcox awarded $65 million contract for UK waste-to-energy plant
